BVN has five projects on World Architecture Festival shortlist

Five BVN entries have been shortlisted in the World Architecture Festival (WAF) and INSIDE World Festival of interiors that will see architects from around the world gathering in Amsterdam in November for the final judging.

The BVN shortlisted projects are the Artemis Centre at Melbourne Girls Grammar School, the Australian Embassy Bangkok, Synergy at CSIRO Canberra, Frasers Property Australia Head Office and Carlton Connect.

Mr James Grose, BVN CEO, noted ‘It is a tremendous confidence booster for Australian architects, to have Australian designs being recognised at the highest levels internationally’.

Artemis Centre, Melbourne Girls Grammar School (MGGS) seeks to promote holistic wellness across the entire student population, it includes a new heated indoor pool, multi-sport team-zone, fitness centre, high-energy space, early childhood gymnastics spaces, café and support facilities. It has been shortlisted in the WAF schools category.

Shortlisted in both WAF and INSIDE the new Australian Embassy in Bangkok has been designed to be an emblematic presence for Australia in Thailand. The Embassy design reflects a blend of modern Australia and modern Thailand and forms a potent symbol of the cultural and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Synergy is CSIRO’s newest research and workplace centre on Canberra’s Black Mountain research precinct. ‘this project has been truly designed from the inside out resulting in an integrated highly deterministic workplace building bespoke to its place,’ said Mr Grose.

Frasers Property Australia Head Office is driven by a strong wellness and innovation agenda, as well as a business imperative to build on relationships between internal employees and project partners and is shortlisted in the INSIDE festival category for Offices.

Carlton Connect. Artist's Impression

Carlton Connect has been shortlisted in the WAF category of Future Projects – Education. The concept imagines a new Innovation Precinct for the University of Melbourne that repurposes the old Royal Women’s Hospital site in Melbourne.

Winners will be announced at the festivals being held in Amsterdam on 28-30 November.
