Luxury residential complex that enhances the river edge and the surrounding urban context
Leftbank is the first multi-storey residential development along the edge of the Brisbane River in West End – within a previously light industrial and commercial precinct. The brief was for a contemporary building that is oriented towards the Brisbane River.
The development is located on Riverside Drive near Davies Park. It consists of 11, two storey river homes, and a seven level apartment building containing 40 apartments, seven terrace houses and seven two-level penthouses.
All living areas, bedrooms and kitchens are designed with large openings to the generous balconies with views, creating a sense of open spaciousness. The balconies are deeply recessed to allow for large outdoor usable areas and also provide well shaded living areas. A high quality is achieved through discerning finishes and large living and bedroom spaces in generously sized apartments.
The apartment block is split into two sections which provides a permeable vista from Musgrave Street, to the Brisbane River which enhances the surrounding urban context. The landscaping of the development enhances the sub tropical river edge and incorporates a large central spine of sub tropical rainforest planting surrounding the pool-side terrace.
