Description
Kincoppal Rose Bay, located in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, is a co-educational pre-school and junior school, and secondary day school with boarding facilites for girls. The entire school is classified as a heritage precinct.
The Junior School Masterplan identifies guidelines for the development of the Junior School over the next 10 years in line with the school’s teaching methods and projected growth.
The plan includes all classrooms, the junior library, administration, staff areas, toilets, the school drop-off zone, and addresses issues of accessibility. Key aims for new works emanating from the masterplan include maximising flexibility, space, natural light, interconnectivity and transparency between spaces, which allows students to engage with other students and classes as needed.
The masterplanning process includes a thorough investigation and integration of ESD initiatives to be included in future developments.
In addition to the Junior School Masterplan, other works conducted for Kincoppal Rose Bay School include the relocation and redesign of the Principal’s office, a study of the cafe, boarders dining area and canteen, and development of the Year 10 community space and Hughes Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning.
