International Terminal Brisbane Expansion
Brisbane, QLD
Completed 2008
BVN was commissioned through Bovis Lend Lease to provide full Design and Documentation Services for the expansion of the Brisbane International Terminal. The project will suit the 2012 forecast of approximately 3000 passengers per hour in peak periods.
All processing areas have been expanded and updated to meet current airline practices and technology. A major refurbishment and replanning exercise has undertaken to both retail and commercial office areas.
The original terminal was designed for easy expansion because of a modular building structure and a services strategy which allows for incremental expansion.
Changes to passenger processing and an increase in security and government agency inspections have resulted in some replanning to the original terminal to optimise the plan within a minimum expansion to the building envelope.
As part of this project, the northern concourse has been expanded to suit A380 aircraft parking positions.
