The Defence Logistics Transformation Program (DLTP) is a nationwide project to consolidate existing wholesale storage, distribution and land materiel maintenance from 24 sites to seven primary sites, supported by nine specialty/retail sites. The project aims to enhance the wholesale logistics function, replacing a number of World War II era buildings with new or refurbished modern purpose built infrastructure to support operations.
The DLTP Works Package 2 at RAAF Base Amberley proposes to transfer the wholesale functions performed at Joint Logistics Unit South Queensland (JLU SQ) Bulimba and Meeandah to a greenfield site at RAAF Base Amberley. Locating the facility at Amberley enables connections with overseas operations through the adjacent RAAF base facilities.
The JLU SQ at Amberley includes six buildings which house the following functions: headquarters office building for JLU(SQ), general stores warehouse and cargo consolidation point, armoury, providing small arms weapons storage and repair, loan and repair pool facility, vehicle and general engineering, electronics workshop.
The DLTP Works Package 3 at Lavarack Barracks includes similar accommodation at a slightly smaller scale.
The projects are a joint venture with Conrad Gargett; with BVN Donovan Hill undertaking Works Package 2 and Conrad Gargett undertaking Works Package 3.
