Business school campus with a distinctly professional and corporate environment to better integrate with the business community
The Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) city campus is located within two levels of a commercial building in Sydney’s CBD. The facility is designed to meet the increasing demand for teaching space in the city, whilst also providing areas for commercial activities.
The design encourages student interaction through open areas adjacent to teaching spaces, the use of a connecting central street, lounges and cafes. These informal spaces allow learning to continue beyond the classroom. The campus provides flexible teaching arrangements, quiet rooms and touchdowns. Informal and formal spaces are sensitive to the needs of both daytime and evening community users.
The campus is contained over two floors, connected by an open stair. One of the floors is designed to be self-contained for leasing purposes with small cafe/lounge, tiered lecture theatre and meeting rooms. The design successfully addresses the various challenges of creating a learning space in a generic office floor, such as allowing for major increases in circulation of large numbers of people and erecting a tiered theatre space in a space with minimal ceiling heights.
The facility is designed to create an effective and appealing learning environment that also enhances AGSM’s image and brand within the business community. There is an emphasis on creating a professional, corporate environment, to which students and the business community can identify.
