An elegant legal office fit-out that supports clear thinking and corporate transparency.
Allens is a top tier law firm with offices throughout Australia, Asia and Europe. The Melbourne office occupies seven floors of the exclusive 101 Collins St tower and is the embodiment of the firm’s core values of unity and ‘clear thinking.’ The workplace is the result of an extensive programme of user consultation and provides increased opportunity for collaboration and interconnectivity.
The office accommodates legal and corporate staff in a mixture of private and communal space, designed to replace the previous office hierarchy. A dramatic new stair physically and visually connects all levels, with significant break out spaces grouped around the stair. Office sizes are standardised, with two junior lawyers sharing an office of 12m2, with all other lawyers occupying a standard office of 10m2. Offices are grouped in clusters around secretarial workstations which support team based work. A significant amount of formal and informal meeting space is provided on legal floors to further support teamwork, along with a large breakout space on each floor positioned to make the most of the views south across the Botanic Gardens and Yarra River.
A key aspect of the design is the incorporation of Allens’ significant art collection throughout the workplace, particularly on the client floor, where Danish timber floors, white walls and refined details create the ambience of an art gallery.
